Another Giant Leap for Covase
Covase, the fleet management and vehicle leasing solutions company, has recently acquired a new member of the commercial vehicle division. Direct from UK Vehicle Contracts, Peter Haines has over 20 years experience of working within the fleet market. Coming from a mainly dealership background, he is well suited to handling fleets for the UK commercial vehicle market. Peter will be a great asset to the existing team at Covase who have just celebrated their first year in business.
Covase has already taken the fleet market by storm by introducing new products and services to their already winning portfolio. Most recently they were featured within Auto-Express with the industry first profit share scheme that has enabled fleet customers to profit from their end of contract vehicles. This unique development has carved out a role for Covase within the fleet management market as having a significantly fresh approach to contract hire and leasing.
Simon Homer, Managing Director at Covase comments,
“We are a young team who are ready to develop brand new opportunities and with a wealth of experience in fleet management behind us we can ensure our customers both new and existing are getting a breath of fresh air when it comes to handling their company vehicle requirements.”
For a company who have only been trading for a year their client list is already impressive, King of Shaves as seen on television during the World Cup coverage featuring John Terry – the possibly soon to be Captain of England and by coincidence the Management of a premiership football club also lease their vehicles from Covase.

Employers face liability for not preventing employee’s making illegal mobile phone calls whilst driving

Under new mobile phone laws, employers could be liable for fines if their employees are caught using mobiles illegally whilst driving on company business. Nearly one in four could be liable for prosecution if their employees use a mobile phone for work-related calls while driving. Department of Transport guidelines state that employers could be liable if they require employees to use a hand-held phone while driving or if they fail to forbid employees to use company phones during business hours.
Contract hire and fleet management specialist, Covase, has come up with a simple solution to customers wishing to provide the answer to this very common problem. All existing customers have been offered a hands free car kit with their next order which means when a new member of staff is recruited they can get a car kit delivered with their new car or van and avoid making illegal and potentially dangerous telephone calls.
“Business owners may not be aware that illegal mobile phone use by employees could result in the company being held responsible for illegal phone use whilst driving. Covase has introduced the hands free kit programme to enable our existing customers to be fully legal and driving safely at all times.”
Simon Homer, Managing Director Covase
The new laws affect all drivers but in particular, drivers of company vehicles spend a great deal of time on the road calling clients, the office, and suppliers. Using a mobile is an essential daily action for most company vehicle users. The purchase of a new car or van for use by an employee will nearly always result in the supply of a mobile phone for company use and with that comes the need for an in car hands free kit to enable the employee to drive safely at all times. Covase has developed a helpful way to make this process a little simpler for business owners who run fleets. It also takes the worry away from companies who could be liable for fines and ensure their drivers are being responsible whilst representing the company.

Asset finance is a specialist way of funding large business purchases such as plant machinery, computer equipment or anything else that is essential to the smooth running of a successful organisation.
