Behind the wheel
The fascia looks very smart with several many switches & buttons which are carried over from VW's passengers range, all of these are well placed and very easy to operate. All instruments are clear & fairly easy to read, the nice soothing blue backlighting looks good
It is a big van but still has a good feel. Several nice luxuries such as, like air conditioning, large glovebox + several large cup holders all help make journeys much more comfortable.
On the Road
Two direct injection systems, named Pumpe Düse are on offer for the Transporter range. The 1.9 TDI engine outputs 85bhp or 104bhp. If you decide to go for the 2.5 TDI, this manages to output 130bhp or 174bhp. Both these engines are very punchy and will cope with heavy loads. The transporter is a large size van, so a little body roll is present. However, VW have limited it well.
Overview
The Transporter range of vans have been around since the 1950s, over the years VW have produced some truly great vans, the current model included. This version is the Volkswagen Ford Transit, however it is more powerful, and better equipped. Two diesel engines are also available, these include 85bhp 1.9 TDI to the 174bhp 2.5 TDI.
