Performance
There is a huge choice of engines to select from. The petrol options include a 120bhp 1.8, 3 turbocharged 2.0-litre models with 148bhp, 173bhp or 207bhp + a 252bhp 2.8-litre V6. In addition to this a 277bhp V6 with four-wheel drive was released this year. There are 2 2.0-litre Biopower engines, these have the option to run on petrol or a eco-friendly bioethanol. The eco engines develop either 173bhp or 197bhp. The best engine to go for in the range is the 1.9-litre diesel, this produces a good amount of pull with 118bhp,148bhp or 178bhp.
Behind the wheel
As you would expect from Saab, the driver environment is great. This is thanks to comfortable seats and a nice looking dashboard design. Thanks to plenty of adjustment with the seats, drivers should be able to find the ideal driving position easily.
Equipment
All 9-3s are very well stocked. The standard fit equipment includes dual-zone climate control, full electric windows + CD player and cruise control. If you go for the Linear SE models, this will add rear parking sensors, a extra cupholder, driver's armrest + carpet mats. The high end Vector Sport model has sports suspension, leather steering wheel. If you decide to go for the range-topping Aero model, this will include a sporty front and rear bumper set, twin exhausts, bi-xenon headlights & heated front seats.
Space & practicality
Passengers in the rear will get good headroom + a decent amount of legroom. Three adults can easily in the back. The large boot can swallow plenty of luggage which makes it ideal for going on holiday. The rear seat splits 60/40. The 9-3 does not have a hatchback variant, however the big boot still makes it capable of hauling sizeable loads.
