Ride & handling
Whichever Mini you go for,it is a hoot to drive. There is a strong go-kart feel, much like the first mini. It also has the kind of grip and poise you get with much more expensive sports vehciles. The Mini's small dimensions make it easy to change direction and maneuver. The steering has a positive feel and is quick to respond. The ride is firm yet comfortable.
Refinement
The Cooper's petrol engines are docile around town and don't become coarse when revved hard. It's a shame you can't say the same of the diesel, which is too gruff at low speeds. Although the wide tyres contribute to some road noise and the upright windscreen creates wind noise at speed, the Mini is a civilised motorway cruiser for its size.
Safety & security
Every Mini comes packed with front, side and cabin airbags. You also get very good non-skid brakes, these are designed to work mid-bend to avoid unsettling the car. The ISOFIX child seat mounts will also be handy for families. The Cooper D & Cooper S models feature traction control. Stability control is an optional extra. The Mini has BMW security parts, so its not easy to steal.
Quality & reliability
The Mini has a great fun image, most of the interior trim looks the part. The mini also scored well in JD Power customer satisfaction tests. Since it has German BMW quality, it should not let you down
