Redefined and redesigned for a new generation. The all-new Mazda2 is the supermini with the good looks and slick moves that leave others trailing in its wake.
Each new generation of ‘superminis’ is getting larger and heavier. Inevitably, this makes them slower, thirstier and less agile. The all-new Mazda2 is different. It’s lighter, making it faster, more fuel-efficient and more fun to drive.
Its stylish aerodynamic design, impressive range of standard equipment and comprehensive safety features mean it’s the obvious choice for young – or even just young-at-heart – drivers.

This is an original & impartial Mazda - 2 1.3 TS 5Dr review, compiled by the team at car contract hire online
.
Quality & reliability
Mazda has a reputation for building cars that last, and the 2's cabin is constructed from sturdy materials with tightly fitting panel gaps. Most of the plastics are hard and unappealing to the touch, but they should wear the miles well. Mazda has an excellent record in reliability and customer satisfaction surveys, too.
Behind the wheel
All-round visibility is good, and the fuss-free dash layout mixes chunky rotary heater dials and clearly labelled stereo buttons. The steering wheel and pedals are perfectly positioned and the high-mounted gearlever means it won't rub abrasively against your left knee in the way that some rivals' gearlevers do. However, things would be improved if the steering wheel adjusted for reach as well as height.
Space & practicality
The Mazda 2 has plenty of space for four adults, and can seat five at a push, but the rear door openings are a bit small and the 250-litre boot is no more than average for the class. The rear seats are fixed in the lower-powered 1.3, but fold forward to increase capacity to 787 litres in the other models. For extra flexibility, the boot can be split horizontally by a dividing board.
