The Lexus IS introduces 2 smooth, refined & responsive engines. The first a petrol and also a diesel. Both are good engines but one more so. The first diesel offered from Lexus, is the IS 220d.
The 220d engine harnesses all the efficiencies & torque of a diesel with a great deal of smoothness you would come to expect from owning a Lexus.
The 220d is rear wheel drive, and fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission. Also fitted is a Smart Keyless Entry and Start System, MP3 compatibility for plugging in your iPod is also a nice feature.

Refinement
Usually owners can take the quiet & refinement of a Lexus for granted. The 2.5 litre petrol engine is well hushed with wind noise also well suppressed. The diesel engine is very quiet at speed, ideal for on the motor-way.
Safety & security
Lexus was the first car producer to receive up a faultless score in the What Car? Security tests. All the IS models come equipped with a staggering eight airbags, in addition Lexus have managed to pack 10 airbags into the the IS-F. All the variants include a host of electronic systems, such as a look out for you when cornering or braking.
Behind the wheel
The controls are well laid out, and you get a handy touch screen console to keep clutter to a minimum if you specify a sat-nav fit. Most drivers will be able to get comfortable. All models apart from the entry include a electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
Equipment
The standard kit makes the big name German brands look very stingy. Even the base model includes alloy wheels, climate control & a great 13-speaker sound system which also includes a CD changer. SE spec includes heated leather seats, while SE-L comes with parking sensors & a wood interior. Sport model ditches the wood & leather in favour of bigger alloys & stiffer suspension. The IS-F model includes 19-inch alloys, keyless entry system, sat-nav, climate control, and reversing camera.
