. Performance
The 1.8-litre petrol engine is very responsive. It also provides strong performance & great pulling power. Alternativly there is a quick & flexible 2.2-litre diesel, this is from the Accord family car. As with all Hondas, even the entry-level 1.4-litre petrol offers good performance.

Safety & security
All Civic's are equipped with twin front, side & curtain airbags. In addition to this stability control is also fitted as standard. The SE models and above are fitted with active head restraints. These are designed to minimise whiplash injuries in the case of a rear end shunt. To help prevent theft a engine immobiliser, deadlocks & alarm are standard.

Quality & reliability
Front seat occupants should be comfortable. Also the large 485 litre boot is a good shape. The boot also has a low lip which will make fitting large items in the boot simple. The rear seats can also be folded flat for extra space. Alternativly they can be flipped up like cinema seats, this will then create a extra boot in the footwell at the rear. All mechanicals should prove very durable, Honda always come out well in surveys.

Space & practicality
