Performance
Buyers can select from a wide range of engines. This includes a 98bhp 1.6, 142bhp 2.0 petrols, 1.6 & 2.0-litre turbodiesels. The optional CVT auto gearbox reduce power output slightly.
Ride & handling
The sports suspension is fitted standard on the Zetec models and optional on Titanium models. However we found that this tended to give the Focus an very firm low speed ride. The regular fit is much better at coping with bad road surfaces. It still provides good body control. The steering is accurate and has a good feel
Quality & reliability
The Focus seems to be very well put together. Ford has a good reliability record. Users should not have any reliability issues.
Equipment
All models in the range come fitted with electric front windows. A height-adjustable drivers seat means drivers should be able to find the ideal driving position quite easily. 60/40 split rear seats are also included.
