Behind the wheel
The Alfa 159 has a key slot & pushbutton ignition system, but the rest of the dash is fuss-free. Instruments are big and bold while controls for the stereo and heating functions are clearly laid out and easy to use. Also included is a easy to use two-way steering wheel adjustment control.
Equipment
Every model is very well equipped, the base Turismo spec includes alloy wheels, all round electric windows, remote central locking, stability control, dual-zone climate control and a CD player. The more expensive Lusso spec features leather upholstery and parking sensors.
Safety & security
Safety kit is comprehensive. Alfa Romeo have included: Stability control and front, side, and curtain airbags all on the basic model + driver’s knee ’bag. There are also front-seat head restraints designed to minimise whiplash injuries. The Alfa 159 has been crash tested by Euro NCAP and was awarded a maximum five-star score.
Refinement
Refinement is very impressive. Wind and road noise are subdued. On the models we tested at Covase, engine noise was quiet with any noise adding a sporty feel.
